Facebook Changes Ahead!

It is all over the news. Mainstream, online and business outlets are reporting the damning effect of these new Facebook changes on small businesses coming our way in January, 2015.

From the Wall Street Journal.

You may be wondering why I haven’t written about this yet, here’s the thing…it’s because there is no reason to panic! There is no reason to quit using Facebook, there is no reason to expect to double or triple your advertising budget for Facebook.

Selling on Facebook will still cost an advertising budget, it is still far cheaper and far more targeted  than print, radio or television.

If you are engaging your fans and are utilizing the strategies that we suggest, You. Will. Prosper.

Facebook isn’t trying to penalize small businesses, they are trying to penalize businesses that abuse their audiences. Here is exactly what Facebook says:

“As a part of an ongoing survey we asked hundreds of thousands of people how they feel about content in their News Feeds. People told us they wanted to see more stories from friends and Pages they care about, and less promotional content.”

Notice the phrase “…and Pages they care about.”

That means despite the changes one thing remains the same with marketing via social media:

Engaging your audience without beating them to death with promotional material always wins.

Facebook is no longer giving business owners the choice to sell all day long, unless they pay to do so, and that is the right thing to do. It creates change and forces businesses (and social media management companies–like Intuitive Marketing Genius) to be more creative, entertaining and engage audiences more, build a better brand and serve their fans in a better way.
